Jacksonville Beach may be the best-kept
secret in northeast Florida. Tucked away on a barrier island just east of
Jacksonville on Florida's A1A, Jacksonville Beach is a treasure awaiting
discovery. With miles of white sandy beaches, oceanfront hotels, great
restaurants, and small town southern hospitality, Jacksonville Beach is a great
place to anchor your stay, or overnight on your way to Orlando, historic St.
Augustine, or the Kennedy Space Center.
Surrounded by the Intracoastal Waterway, St. Johns River and the Atlantic
Ocean, Jacksonville Beach offers nearly every water sport under the sun:
fishing, swimming, surfing, kayaking, sailing, and canoeing. Get a close-up
view of the ocean from our new fishing pier or try your luck with a rod and
reel.

Our miles of beach offer biking, strolling, or collecting
seashells and sharks' teeth. You will see porpoise year-round, and perhaps
catch a glimpse of the northern right whales that winter off the coast or just
hatched sea turtles making their way to the ocean in late summer.
Over 20 golf courses, including Jacksonville
Beach's municipal course with GPS equipped golf carts, make playing a round of
golf a breeze. Browse boutique shops, art galleries and antique shops; or,
explore J. Johnson Gallery, host to visiting world-class art exhibits.

If you love history, NE Florida offers the opportunity to
step back in time. Just 30-minutes south is St. Augustine, the oldest city in
the United States. Minutes north of Jacksonville Beach is the 46,000-acre
Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve. It includes Kingsley Plantation, the
oldest plantation house still standing in Florida, ruins of the original slave
cabins, and Fort Caroline - a re-creation of the French Huguenot stronghold
built in the 16th century. Visit Little and Big Talbot Island State Parks, or
Guana State Park for miles of wild Florida, hiking, kayaking or bird watching.
You'll see pelicans, egrets, herons, and maybe an alligator or manatee.
